The Spring of Culture is an annual festival that takes place throughout February and April in the Kingdom of Bahrain and was initiated in 2006.The festival is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the Economic Development Board, Shaikh Ebrahim Center, Albareh Art Gallery, Al Riwaq Art Space and La Fontaine. It has become the most anticipated event in Bahrain after the Formula One. The aim of this extravaganza is to support the Kingdoms growing tourism and leisure sectors (domestically, regionally & internationally) as well as expand the role of art and culture in Bahrain in order to promote cultural awareness.The festival includes over 35 events annually such as musical concerts, performing arts and visual arts in different venues around Bahrain such as historical sites, Bahrain National Theatre, Shaikh Ebrahim Center Houses and art galleries. The festival manages to attract a wide audience base in Bahrain as well as from neighbouring countries.In addition to the main programme of events, the festival also has a Family Programme that focuses on events for young audiences, an Education Programme where the audience is invited to learn from the participating groups, a Talent Programme that invests in fostering Bahraini Talent, and a Community Programme that involves the less privileged segments of society. It has therefore grown to be more than just an entertainment event, but rather a solid cultural movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
